Story 7515

1 | Start
Welcome to the Coastal Realms! You find yourself standing in the center of a small village as the morning sun filters through the trees. The scent of fresh bread drifts from nearby homes. You notice the village tavern bustling with early patrons, and a modest shop with its door propped open.
What would you like to do?
2 | Go to the forest
You leave the village behind and step into the ancient forest. Towering trees with gnarled bark stretch high above, their canopy filtering sunlight into dancing patterns on the forest floor. The air feels different here - charged with an otherworldly energy.
You hear the distant sound of flowing water and catch glimpses of strange, colorful lights flitting between the trees. A well-worn path branches in two directions - one leading deeper into the forest's heart, another winding toward what sounds like a river.
What do you choose to do?
3 | Look for inhabitants
You move carefully through the undergrowth, searching for signs of the forest's inhabitants. Your footsteps seem unusually quiet on the moss-covered ground.
After a few minutes, you spot movement ahead - a figure in earth-toned robes tending to a grove of saplings. The person hasn't noticed you yet. To your left, you catch a glimpse of something small and luminescent darting behind a tree trunk, accompanied by the faint sound of tinkling laughter.
The druid continues their work peacefully, while the fey creature seems to be watching you with curious but cautious eyes.
How do you approach this situation?
4 | Approach the figure
You step forward, branches softly crunching underfoot. The druid looks up from their work - an elderly human with weathered features and kind eyes. Dirt stains their hands from tending the young trees.
“Ah, a traveler,” the druid says with a warm but cautious smile. “Few venture this deep into our forest uninvited. I am Elderoak, guardian of this grove. The fey grow restless when strangers pass through - they sense your intentions before you speak them.”
The small glowing creature you spotted earlier hovers just within view, watching your exchange with bright, curious eyes.
“What brings you to the ancient woods, wanderer?”
5 | I am looking for adventure
Elderoak nods knowingly, his eyes twinkling. “Adventure, is it? The forest holds many secrets for those brave enough to seek them.” He gestures deeper into the woods where the trees grow denser and older.
“The ruins of ancient Aethoria lie beyond the heart of our forest - an elven city that fell a thousand years past. Strange magics still linger there, and travelers speak of artifacts and treasures guarded by… things that should not be disturbed.”
The fey creature chimes softly, almost like a warning. Elderoak glances at it, then back to you.
“Or perhaps you seek something closer? River traders have been reporting strange lights upstream, and some haven't returned from their journeys.”
He studies your face carefully. “Choose wisely, wanderer. Both paths hold danger.”
