1 | Start

Welcome to the Coastal Realms! You find yourself at the entrance of a small Village nestled between rolling hills and a dense Forest. The air is filled with the scent of the sea, carried by a gentle breeze. Where would you like to go?

2 | To the center of the village

You make your way to the village center. It's a quaint area with a central well, surrounded by thatched-roof cottages. Villagers bustle about their daily tasks. You notice a lively Tavern and a modest Shop nearby. What would you like to do?

3 | Tavern

You enter the Tavern, the social hub of the Village. It's warmly lit, with a crackling fireplace. Locals chat over mugs of ale, and a grizzled barkeep wipes down the counter. A notice board catches your eye. What's your next move?

4 | Order ale. You also find a map in your pocket.

The barkeep nods and slides a frothy mug of ale your way. As you reach for it, you feel a map in your pocket. While sipping your drink, you can examine the map or interact with the tavern patrons. What would you like to do?

5 | Talk to the barmen

You approach the barkeep, a stout man with a salt-and-pepper beard. He leans in, polishing a mug. “New face, eh? What brings you to our little village? Careful out there, strange happenings in the forest lately.” What do you say?

6 | I'm looking for a man that live here, he is the son of Smith that used live here long time ago, do you know where I can find him

The barkeep's eyes narrow in thought. “Ah, you must mean old Smith's boy, Arden. He's grown now, lives on the outskirts. Bit of a recluse, that one. Spends most of his time in the Forest studying plants. Odd fellow, but harmless.” Where to next?

7 | Do you happen to know where I can buy a horse?

The barkeep chuckles, shaking his head. “A horse? In this small village? I'm afraid we don't have stables here. Nearest place for that would be Oceanside City, few days' journey downriver. Might find a boat heading that way at the River dock, though.

8 | Where am I on the map?

You unfold the map from your pocket. The barkeep leans over, pointing to a small dot. “We're here, this tiny Village. See that Forest to the east? And there's the River south of us. Oceanside City is way down there by the coast. Quite a journey if you're headed that way.

9 | to come across some funny cool stuff

The barkeep grins mischievously. “Funny and cool, eh? Well, if it's excitement you're after, rumor has it there are some ancient Ruins deep in the Forest. Folks say strange lights and sounds come from there at night. Or, if you're feeling brave, the River's got some… interesting creatures. Just watch out for the current!

10 | I see, thank you

Anytime, stranger,” the barkeep nods, returning to his work. You're left to contemplate your next move. The tavern's warmth contrasts with the adventure awaiting outside. The Forest's mysteries or the River's dangers beckon. Or perhaps you'd like to explore more of the Village? What's your decision?

11 | Go to the outskirts

You leave the tavern and make your way to the village outskirts. The path becomes less traveled, winding between scattered cottages. You see Arden's home in the distance, a small house near the Forest edge. Smoke rises from its chimney. Will you approach the house or explore the area?

12 | Approah

As you approach Arden's house, you notice a small garden with unusual plants. The door is slightly ajar, and you hear soft muttering from inside. A worn leather satchel hangs on a peg outside. Do you knock, call out, or investigate the surroundings further?

13 | Knock

You knock on the door. The muttering stops abruptly. After a moment, footsteps approach. The door opens wider, revealing a man in his thirties with unkempt hair and dirt-stained hands. He eyes you curiously. “Yes? Can I help you?” Arden asks, his voice cautious but not unfriendly.

14 | I'm an old friend of your father

Arden's eyes widen with surprise, then narrow with suspicion. He studies your face intently. “My father? He… he's been gone for years. I don't recall him mentioning any friends from his past.” He pauses, then asks cautiously, “What brings you here after all this time? What do you know about him?

15 | Once we were fellows in a robbers band

Arden's expression darkens, a mix of shock and disbelief crossing his face. He glances around nervously, then steps back, opening the door wider. “Perhaps you'd better come inside,” he says in a hushed tone. “These aren't matters to discuss in the open.” The interior of his cottage is visible, cluttered with books and strange plants.

16 | We robbed once a post carrier from bank

Arden quickly pulls you inside and shuts the door, his face pale. He speaks in a hushed, urgent tone. “Keep your voice down! I… I had no idea about Father's past. This is… troubling.” He paces, running a hand through his hair. “Why are you here now? Is there… Is there trouble coming? What do you want from me?

17 | We had to split our ways after the robbery, but you father kept the gold bars, and I'm looking for my half now

Arden's face pales further, his eyes darting around the room nervously. He lowers his voice to a whisper. “Gold bars? I… I never knew about any of this. Father never mentioned…” He pauses, conflicted. “Look, I don't have any gold bars. But there's… there's a locked chest in the attic. I've never opened it. Could that be what you're after?

18 | Open it

Arden hesitates, then nods reluctantly. He retrieves a rickety ladder and climbs to the attic. You hear shuffling above, then he descends with a dust-covered chest. His hands tremble as he produces an old key. “I've never… This was Father's.” He inserts the key, turns it. The lock clicks. Do you open it?

19 | Open

With a deep breath, Arden lifts the chest lid. Inside, you both find a collection of old papers, a worn leather-bound journal, and a small cloth bag. No gold bars are visible. Arden looks confused and relieved. “This… this isn't what you expected, is it?” he says, reaching for the journal. What do you want to examine first?

20 | What's inside a bag

Arden carefully picks up the small cloth bag. It's light but there's a faint clinking sound as he handles it. With a glance at you, he slowly unties the bag and peers inside. His eyes widen. “It's… coins. Old ones. And a small key.” He tips the bag, revealing a handful of tarnished gold coins and an ornate, tiny key.

21 | What is this key from

Arden examines the key closely, turning it over in his hands. “I… I'm not sure. It's too small for any lock in this house.” He pauses, thinking. “Wait… There's an old story about a hidden lockbox in the Ruins in the Forest. Father used to mention it, but I thought it was just a tale.” He looks at you uncertainly. “Could this be connected?

22 | Certainly

Arden's expression shifts from uncertainty to a mix of excitement and apprehension. “Then… the Ruins might hold more answers. But it's dangerous out there.” He glances at the fading daylight outside. “If we go, we should prepare. I have some supplies, but we'd need more. The shop in the Village might help. What do you think? Should we venture to the Ruins?

23 | Go the ruins

Arden nods, his face set with determination. “Right, let's go.” He quickly gathers some supplies - a lantern, rope, and a small pack of food. As you both step out, the Forest looms before you, dark and mysterious. The path to the Ruins is overgrown and barely visible. “Stay close,” Arden warns. “The Forest can be tricky.” Where do you lead?

24 | South

You lead southward into the Forest, the trees growing denser as you proceed. The path becomes harder to follow, and strange sounds echo in the distance. Arden looks uneasy. “This isn't the usual way to the Ruins,” he whispers. “We're heading towards the River. Should we continue south or change direction?
