Coastal Quest
by bayka
1 | Start
Welcome to the Coastal Realms! You find yourself at the edge of a small, quaint Village nestled between rolling hills and a dense forest. The air is filled with the scent of the sea, carried by a gentle breeze. Where would you like to go first?
2 | Top of the hill
As you climb to the top of the nearest hill, you're greeted with a breathtaking panoramic view. The Village spreads out below, while the vast Forest looms to one side. In the distance, you can see the glint of a River and the endless expanse of the Ocean. What would you like to do next?
3 | Find some food
You descend the hill and return to the Village. The most likely place to find food is the Tavern, which serves as the social hub. As you approach, you hear laughter and the clinking of mugs. The aroma of freshly baked bread and hearty stew wafts from inside. Enter?
4 | Yes. You also find a map in your pocket.
You enter the Tavern, finding it warm and inviting. The patrons, a mix of humans and halflings, turn to glance at you curiously. A friendly barkeep nods in greeting. As you reach for the map in your pocket, you wonder: should you examine it here or find a quiet corner?
5 | Where am I on the map?
You unfold the map, studying it carefully. Based on your surroundings and what you've seen, you realize you're in the Village area. The map shows connections to the Tavern (where you are now), the Shop, and the Forest. It also reveals other locations you haven't visited yet. What would you like to do with this information?
6 | Find the owner of the castle
The map shows a Castle connected to the Oceanside City, which is quite far from your current location in the Village. To reach it, you'd need to travel through the Forest, follow the River, and then take a Boat. The journey seems long and potentially dangerous. Would you like to ask the tavern patrons about the Castle's owner?
7 | Yes
You approach a group of locals at a nearby table. When you inquire about the Castle's owner, they exchange knowing glances. An older man leans in, speaking quietly: “That'd be Lord Blackthorn, ruler of Oceanside City. Powerful and cunning, that one. Why do you ask, stranger?” The others listen intently for your response.
8 | I have a sowcial message for him
The locals look at you with a mix of surprise and suspicion. The older man raises an eyebrow, “A social message, eh? That's quite a journey for a chat. Lord Blackthorn isn't known for his hospitality to unexpected guests.” He leans closer, lowering his voice, “If it's urgent, you might find help at the River. Merchant boats sometimes make the trip. But be careful, stranger. The Forest isn't safe these days.”
9 | Lets find a boat smuggler
The older man's eyes widen at your request. He glances around nervously before whispering, “If you're serious, head to the River's edge at dusk. Look for a weathered halfling named Finn. He might help, for the right price. But keep this quiet, and be prepared for danger.” The other patrons suddenly become very interested in their drinks. Where do you want to go now?
10 | Where am I on the map?
You're still in the Tavern, which is connected to the Village on your map. To reach the River, you'll need to go through the Village and then the Forest. It's a bit of a journey, and it's not yet dusk. You have some time before meeting Finn. Would you like to prepare for the trip, explore the Village, or head straight to the Forest?
11 | Go to the forest
You leave the Tavern and Village behind, entering the ancient Forest. Towering trees block out much of the sunlight, creating a dim, mysterious atmosphere. You hear strange rustling and distant whispers. The path ahead splits: one way seems darker but shorter, the other lighter but winding. Which path do you choose?
